Black Cat Bone Music bringing the blues to town once again in a rare, but action packed mid-week concert. Please, see below for more vital information:

Black Cat Bone Music brings you all the way from South Carolina - Megan Jean & The KFB!
http://www.meganjean.net/

Here's a little insight as to what they're brining to Northampton:

Hard-touring, foot-stompin', guitar beatin, upright lickin, washboard scratchin,' banjo pickin' madness with a voice like the devil herself. Charleston, SC-based duo Megan Jean & the KFB arrange a demented blend of gypsy, circus, americana, and the avant-garde that has been captivating audiences all over America. The pair met in New York City in 2004 and quickly became disillusioned with the music-mill mentality that dominates the concrete jungle. Feeling lost in the shuffle, Jean and Klay decided to sell all their possessions, quit their day jobs, and hit the road full-time, focusing on the Southeast. Fourteen shows turned into 200 a year and a newfound home-base in Charleston's burgeoning music community. While on the road, the pair forged their unique sound, which has been described as "...a wealth of gorgeous tunes that brilliantly [merge] American roots music with exotic elements of Euro/gypsy styles." (T. Ballard Leseman, Charleston City Paper) Calling the road home on a "never-ending tour" with an anchor firmly planted in the Lowcountry, this transient duo has taken DIY lifestyle and transformed it into a kind of Voodoo that unites scenes, fans, bands, clubs and musical styles-all without the help of a label and fueled by sheer guts and know how. In April of 2012, Megan Jean and the KFB will be featured on PBS performing an original composition "These Bones" as part of a music documentary series entitled "Music Voyager," which will be broadcast internationally.

Henry's Rifle (a BCBM favorite) comes from Albany NY and will open the show with some country/folk blues goodness that comes straight from the heart!

The Blues for the Cure Benefit is an all day benefit consisting of live blues music from the areas best blues bands who donate their time and talent to help with raising funds for this great cause. Ectodermal Dysplasias is a rare, genetic birth defect that affects the growth of the hair, skin, teeth and sweat glands of the children born with it. Symptoms include sparse hair growth, multiple missing teeth and an absense or non-functioning sweat glands.

Tonight: Black Cat Bone Music Presents: Deep Blues, in various dirty forms.

Photobucket

Oh yeah, we got the blues...tonight!!

Black Cat Bone Music is proud to present the "Deep" Blues showcase. With music masterfully delivered by Handsome Wife, The Cannibal Ramblers and The Suitcase Junket! But wait, there's more. Black Cat Bone Music has been kind enough to bring their open mic/blues jam, featuring live blues band Cold Shot, to the club as well!! It's gonna be a great night of the deepest, dirtiest blues...so buckle up and enjoy!!

Handsome Wife -- Hailing from Boston, and garnering a veritable "shit-ton" of national attention, many consider them to be THE next big thing to emerge from New England --blues music-wise. Their sound? Deep, dusty blues... http://handsomewife.com/home.cfm

The Cannibal Ramblers -- Straight to Noho from Rhode Island! Their densely textured, highly rhythmic music with strong narrative content, and ragged like a rusty knife, will make you feel like driving your car down a winding mountain road, with the brake lines cut! That's the zone they live in, and what they deliver to you. http://cannibalramblers.com/

The Suitcase Junket -- A throat-singing, slide-guitar playing, whistling one-man-band with a suitcase bass-drum, gas-can-baby-shoe beater and a hi-hat. Playing a dumpster-diamond guitar.
